Biography

Ava is an active volunteer with the Inner-City Science Centre at Niji
Mahkwa, the Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg, and as a soprano singer in a young-
adult choir. Ava’s volunteer experiences and her love for learning inspire her career goal
to become a physician and have a hand in ensuring accessible and equitable
healthcare across all Manitoba populations. Ava completed a NSERC-USRA in the Wijenayake lab
in the Summer of 2024 and investigated the anti-inflammatory potential of milk-derived extracellular vesicles. Ava is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine program at University of Manitoba.

In her spare time, Ava enjoys spending time outside running, gardening and hammocking.
